Water Monitoring and Maintenance within London Borough of Harrow Council

Project Overview:
Since October 2022, Well Water has provided water monitoring, planned maintenance, remedial repairs, and water quality testing across 70 diverse sites for principle contractor G&D Higgins. These locations include schools, libraries, sports facilities, care homes, and NHS tenanted centers. The project aimed to ensure water hygiene compliance, maintain water quality, and address any legionella risks effectively.

Scope of Work:
The scope of our services covered the following key activities:

  • Water Monitoring and Testing: Regular monitoring and testing of water quality, including sampling for Legionella, ensuring all sites meet statutory water hygiene standards.
  • Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM): Development and implementation of a PPM schedule to ensure water systems were consistently maintained and functioning optimally.
  • Remedial Repairs: Timely execution of any necessary repairs, addressing issues identified during monitoring to prevent potential water hygiene risks.
  • Water Quality Testing: Conducted across all sites to track water conditions and verify compliance with safety standards.

Project Delivery:
Our approach involved a detailed resource and asset mapping exercise, allowing us to understand the specific needs of each site. In collaboration with Harrow Council, we developed a comprehensive work programme tailored to the diverse requirements of each property. This included the creation of site-specific Water Monitoring Matrices and logbooks to track activities and maintain accurate records.

We emphasized the importance of clear communication with the council’s facilities management team, enabling the efficient scheduling and management of remedial works. Our proactive management approach contributed to reducing actionable Legionella levels across the council’s properties, ensuring the safety of all users.

Outcome:
The project has successfully improved water hygiene standards across the council’s 70 sites. By implementing thorough monitoring and maintenance programs, Well Water ensured that water systems remained compliant with regulatory requirements. The collaborative nature of our work with Harrow Council also facilitated a strong working relationship and smooth project delivery. The emphasis on clear communication and efficient management played a key role in achieving these positive outcomes.

Conclusion:
This case study demonstrates Well Water’s capability to manage large-scale water hygiene projects for public sector clients. Our detailed planning, proactive approach, and focus on compliance have ensured that Harrow Council can maintain high standards of water safety across its properties, providing peace of mind to all stakeholders.
